Show Description:
A short time after Figaro helped his friend, The Count Almaviva, win the affection of his wife (The Countess Rosina) the Count, who had previously renounced the "droit de seigneur" (the the alleged right of a medieval feudal lord to have the bride of a subordinate on the night of her wedding) intends to exercise his "droit de seigneur" with his friend Figaro's bride to be, the irresistible Susanna.
Matters are complicated by Cherubino (The Count's own lustful page boy) who fancies himself the would-be lover of the Countess, and Marcellina, the housekeeper of Dr. Bartolo, who is the former guardian of his ward Rosina, who is herself now the Countess Rosina.
Marcellina wants to claim payment on her debt which stipulates that Figaro either pay her the money she loaned him or marry her himself.  Dr. Bartolo is scheming to ensure that the impoverished Figaro must marry Marcellina so that he may make advances on Susanna, and "payback" Figaro for stealing Susanna from Bartolo for the Count.
