By: John Patrick Shanley

Show Description:
This riveting drama by John Patrick Shanley won both the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the Tony Award for Best Play in 2005.  The action takes place in 1964 at St. Nicholas School in the Bronx. A charismatic and progressive priest, Father Flynn, is in favor of reforms to the school’s traditional strict practices, which are fiercely guarded by the school’s principal, Sister Aloysius.  Sister James, a young and hopeful teacher, shares with Sister Aloysius her suspicion that Father Flynn is paying too much, and possibly inappropriate, personal attention to Donald Muller, the school’s first African American student.  Sister Aloysius sets off on a personal crusade to unearth the truth and expunge the Priest for the parish and the school.
