Shrek the Musical is a stage musical based on the 2001 DreamWorks film Shrek and other works by William Steig and the Shrek sequels. The story is about an ogre named Shrek who lives in a swamp and is visited by homeless fairy tale characters who have been exiled by Lord Farquaad. Shrek makes a deal with the characters to help them get their homes back if they help him get his back. However, Lord Farquaad makes his own deal, offering to return the characters' homes if Shrek rescues Princess Fiona. Shrek and his sidekick Donkey then set off on a journey to save the land from the evil lord and rescue the princess. 

 The musical explores themes of acceptance, friendship, confidence, and self-love. It features a cast of characters that includes a donkey, a princess, a short-tempered villain, and a cookie with attitude. The musical also includes creative elements like costumes, sets, and puppets, including a fire-breathing dragon.
