Show Description:
Ingredients for a winning musical: charm; dance aplenty, including tap; melody after melody, including a candidate (“The Lambeth Walk”) for the most infectiously contagious tune of them all; and an engaging plotline centered on a less-than-posh Cockney, decked out in checkered suit and grey bowler, who learns that he is the long-lost Earl of Hareford. Don’t look any further—simply come to OLO’s production of Noel Gay’s 1937 musical Me and My Girl. When it was revived in the mid-1980s, it took both Broadway (1400+ performances) and London (3000+ performances) by storm. Song titles include the upbeat title song, “Hold My Hand,” “Love Makes the World Go Round,” and “Leaning on a Lamp Post,” popularized in the 1960s by Herman’s Hermits.
